Mike Isaacson New HVAAA Executive Director

TOLEDO CHRONICLE – WATERLOO- Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging is pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Isaacson as the new executive director. Mike Isaacson was formerly the executive director of Community Based Services (CBS) based in Waverly, a position he held since 2006.

HVAAA is a private, not-for-profit corporation serving individuals in Tama, Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Chickasaw, Grundy, Hardin, Marshall and Poweshiek counties. The Toleod Senior and Meals on Wheels programs are operated by Hawkeye Valley.

Isaacson is currently the Mayor of the city of Denver where he resides with his wife and four children. He is an active member of several non-profit boards, most recently serving as the President of the Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging board. He received his bachelor’s degree in social work and his master’s degree in public policy from the University of Northern Iowa.

“The search committee had an excellent pool of candidates apply for this position and we are very pleased with their selection of Mike Isaacson,” stated Bob Schaffer, associate director of Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging. “Mike’s understanding of the population served by Hawkeye Valley and his strong leadership skills will allow him to hit the ground running.”

HVAAA coordinates services for people ages 60 and older and their caregivers to maintain the independence they desire. Some of the services provided by HVAAA include the Aging and Disability Resource Center, home delivered meals, caregiver support and respite services, case management services, consumer protection, congregate meals, public information and education, and advocacy.
