TAMA NEWS-HERALD – In an effort to expand senior meals and services provided at Montour, a special luncheon and entertainment was presented on Thursday, Oct 21, at the Montour Area Community Center.

The Tama County Farm Bureau Women’s Chorus and a home-style meal were featured.

Nearly 20 Montour residents were joined by some of the “regulars” from the Toledo Senior Center.

Deb Peska, Hawkeye Area Agency on Aging service center coordinator for Tama County, said her program aims to provide and expand senior meals and services to all parts of the county.

In addition to Montour, the Garwin and Clutier areas have expressed interest so far, she said.

The Toledo Senior Center site has been in operation for more than 25 years.

In addition to the noon meals, mobile meals, senior informational services and activities are offered.

Hawkeye Area Agency says it provides “for people age 60 and older to help them maintain the independence they desire” according to its information brochure.
