The State Bank of Toledo: Promotes management team

At the February Board meeting, State Bank of Toledo President and CEO, John Kavalier announced promotions to Executive Management Team. Jerimi Kopsa was promoted to Executive Vice President and Cashier and Michele Werner was elevated to Sr. Vice President & Compliance Officer.

Jerimi Kopsa is a graduate of South Tama earning his Bachelor’s degree in Management and Economics from the University of Northern Iowa. In addition to his four-year degree, Jerimi completed his MBA from Drake University. Jerimi has received multiple banking certifications through ongoing education, including from the Graduate School of Banking in Colorado in 2014.

Jerimi and his wife Jacqulyn have two children Kaden and Ella and they enjoy staying active in the community and spending time with family and friends.

Jerimi currently serves on the South Tama County Joint Recreation Board, South Tama Youth Baseball Board, Unity Point Marshalltown Foundation Board, and the South Tama Scholarship Committee. Additionally, he is actively involved in educational and mentorship programs with the STC School District. In the past Jerimi has served on the Tama-Toledo Country Club Board, has been active in the Tama Toledo Chamber of Commerce, and has volunteered countless hours coaching youth sports.

Michele Werner is a life-long resident of rural Toledo, graduating from South Tama County High School. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Buena Vista University completing a double major in Finance and in Management Human Resources.

Michele has continued her professional growth by earning numerous certifications through continued education provided by Iowa Bankers Association. Most notably graduating from the Iowa School of Banking in 2014. Michele will earn her Masters in Banking from Graduate School of Banking in Colorado this summer. Michele serves on the Iowa Bankers Legislative Board and was one of ten bankers selected to serve on the 2020 Leaders in Advocacy Group that will lobby on behalf of Iowa’s community banks this summer in Washington D.C.

Michele’s daily duties include overseeing the bank’s regulatory compliance, approving credit requests, and assisting with H/R duties.

Michele and her husband Eric have two daughters, Hope and Belle. She is a member of the Tama PEO Chapter EW, and actively involved with Junior Achievement at South Tama Schools and Financial Literacy training through IVCCD and MCC. Previously Michele has served as Treasurer of the T-T Chamber of Commerce and taught CCD at St Patrick’s Catholic Church.

State Bank of Toledo welcomes Michael (Mike) Zmolek as Assistant Vice President & Ag Lender. Mike graduated from South Tama School in 1999 and received his formal education from University of Northern Iowa. Mike brings nine years of financial services experience along with six years of crop insurance sales and service. Mike has spent the last few years in the agriculture industry with Dolezal Farm Supply.

Mike and his wife Deanna have three children Preston, Paxton, and Kolson. Mike and his family enjoy community involvement and time spent with family and friends.
