Join Tama County Women, Land & Legacy and Iowa Learning Farms (ILF) for their upcoming event, “Conservation Speak: How to Talk With Your Landowner or Tenant.” This event will be held on Thursday, Jan. 30, at the State Bank of Toledo Community Room, 103 S. Broadway in Toledo. Dessert and registration will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the event following at 7p.m.

For farm operators, it can sometimes be frustrating when they want to add conservation practices to the ground they rent when the landowner doesn’t understand the practices or how the practices can benefit the farm long-term. On the flip side, how can a landowner effectively approach his or her renter about adding practices to the renter’s “Conservation Toolbox” in order to improve or sustain the farm’s productivity?

Join in the conversation as two conservation-minded Tama County producers share their experiences with ConservationSpeak. In addition, Liz Juchems Ripley of ILF will present Iowa State University research on conservation and introduce ILF’s two publication series on ConservationSpeak-Talking With Your Landlord and Talking With Your Tenant.

Tama County Women, Land & Legacy began in 2007, part of a statewide USDA outreach project. This is the group’s 38th local event. Women, Land & Legacy is currently active in thirty Iowa counties and brings together Iowans interested in agriculture, local food and natural resources to converse, listen and become empowered for involvement on their landscape and in their communities.
