Confusion over Matrix Design Group report
There’s been some confusion concerning the MATRIX Design Group report.
Beginning in May, The Chronicle began inquiring about the final reports which were due in May or June. Following the third request to the Iowa Economic Development Authority a reply was received on June 14 which said, in part, the reports “have already been released to the communities.” An offer to forward the report to The Chronicle was also made and accepted.
In the meantime, Toledo Mayor Dave Svoboda and City Clerk Kim McAdoo both said they had not been issued the reports.
In fact, McAdoo said a few days later the report The Chronicle had since forwarded to her was the only one her office had seen at the time.
This report was also not the final recommendations – it was basically a detailed inventory of the property and survey of the community.
On July 5, State Rep. Dean Fisher was contacted to see if he had any knowledge of the plan.
He reported then he had not but would check.
On July 11, Fisher reported he had received the Facility Reuse plan: Iowa Juvenile Home and forwarded a copy of the 202-page document to The Chronicle.
On Thursday, July 13, McAdoo said her office had not received the reuse plan and still in fact, only had the earlier report which had been forwarded ot her from The Chronicle.
Now, to add to some of the confusion, there was a belief here at the newspaper the MATRIX Group representatives were going to host a formal presentation of their findings for the community.
This was incorrect.
Rep. Fisher was told in an email from MATRIX: “Unfortunately we are not returning to the local community to present the IJH Reuse Plan. Though this would seem a logical progression to the process, a final trip is not in our scope. I can only conclude that this is a misunderstanding on the part of the local press since this was not part of our messaging during our last round of public workshops.”
The Chronicle will report where the plans may be accessed when the location is learned.
It is anticipated the report will be accessible accompanying this story on the Chronicle – Tama News-Herald website: tamatoledonews.com
