Fetter family biennial reunion held July 21

Fifty eight descendants of Lewis and Agnes Fetter held their biennial reunion Sunday, July 21 at the Belle Plaine Community Center. This is the thirteenth gathering planned and hosted by cousins, this year by the family of Philip and Norma Fetter.

The hall was decorated with a welcome sign in Czech, a Czech flag, and table centerpieces. A large table contained pictures of past generations, newspaper articles, family trees, and photographs from previous reunions all of which prompted tales of “remember when..” After enjoying a pot luck dinner featuring kolache, mokovy bothy, and rosettes the attendees were challenged by a game of translating Czech words into English. A less challenging event, a raffle, followed. Each family then posed for pictures with the two first generation attendees, Betty Tesar and John Fetter.
