The annual John and Bessie Cecak reunion was held on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at the CSA hall in Vining, Iowa. A total of 63 family members gathered for a potluck at noon. The family of Bess Cecak Vesely was in charge. Those members of Bess Cecak Vesely were Jeannette Young, Alan Young of Toledo, James Young of Grinnell, Justin Young and his two children of Des Moines and James Reeder of Cedar Rapids. Debbie and Rick Burnes Toledo, Danny and janae Yuska of Tama, Brian, Paityn and Preston Yuska and Layla Pansegrau of Toledo. Bev Vesely, Sherri Vesely, Nick Vesely, Elizabeth Vesely of Toledo and Isabelle Seth of Tama, Laura and Steve Hannam of Waukee, Bob and Kelly Vesely of Marion Iowa. Tony Vesely, Jeremy, Emily, Emmet and losie Vesely of Lincoln, Nebraska. Those attending besides those in charge were: Barb Scott, Vernetta Saffell, Roger and Eva Knutson of Waterloo. Terry and Zelda Cecak, Leona Cecak, Teri, Max, Andrea Nott, Mary Cecak and J. J. Cecak of Toledo. jeaneene Cecak Dowell of Gilman. Curtis and Dawn DePau, Patrick and Logan Martin of Marshalltown. Emily, April and Kayleigh Black and Jake Bailiff of Des Moines. Tyce, Jennie and Sophia Oesterle of Janesville. Sharon and Gavian Knoop of Clutier. Beth Goos of Gladbrook. The afternoon was spent with a few games relating to Czech heritage and things of the past. We remember that John and Bessie Cecak came from the old country and lived around the Vining area were they raised their six children, Joe, Anton, Emma,Lillian, Bessie and John. After retiring they moved into the town of Vining just a block from the CSA hall. It’s nice to be able to go back to were they lived and remember our heritage. It was a beautiful day and the children enjoyed playing in the city park right by the CSA hall.
