TAMA NEWS-HERALD -Des Moines-Alec Rushford of Tama was elected Treasurer/Secretary of Pride Alliance, a student organization at AIB College of Business.

Pride Alliance provides a safe, confidential and supportive social setting for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students, their straight allies and supporters. It fosters diversity, open-mindedness, tolerance and understanding by providing LGBT educational resources to its members and the college community.

True to the strong business focus of all AIB students, Pride Alliance also provides networking opportunities with members of the LGBT business community and the business community in general.

“I look forward to working with Alec to promote Pride Alliance and its message,” said Mike Smith, AIB admissions counselor and Pride Alliance advisor. “LGBT students face unique challenges. They deserve our support to help them navigate these challenges, and the education necessary to help them build productive lives and successful careers in business.”

Rushford is earning an Associate in Applied Science degree in Travel And Hospitality Management – Business Administration.
