MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — South Tama County’s Ava Boldt continues to make waves on the national archery scene, earning top honors at the 2025 NASP Championship in Myrtle Beach. Representing her school, club, and the state of Iowa, Boldt delivered an outstanding performance that capped off a historic season.
Boldt earned 2nd place in the National Scholarship Shoot-Off, walking away with a $4,000 scholarship. Boldt was one of only five girls nationwide invited to compete in the shoot-off, selected from both the Eastern and Western National tournaments, and was the only representative from Iowa. Her strong finish came after a nerve-wracking competition that ended with her smiling as she walked away from the shooting line.
In the main championship events, Ava placed 4th in Bullseye and 5th in 3D among high school girls. The Myrtle Beach tournament marked the conclusion of an incredible year in which she has earned over $8,000 in scholarships, in addition to winning multiple Genesis Matthews bows, a hunting bow, plaques, medals, and sizable trophies.
“Ava has worked so hard not only on her archery technique but also on her mental toughness and confidence,” said Andrea Boldt, her mother. “It’s fun to see her being recognized across the country. So many archers came up to her saying, ‘Oh, you’re Ava Boldt from Iowa, I’m such a fan!'”
Despite the national attention, Boldt remains humble. She wrapped up the season ranked 2nd in the nation for average scores in both high school girls Bullseye and 3D, and 1st in the state of Iowa in both categories.
After an 18-hour drive to South Carolina just after school was dismissed on June 4, Ava proved once again that dedication, skill, and resilience pay off.
