STC FROSH moves to 3-0

KNOXVILLE — South Tama’s Freshman/Sophomore football team moved to 3-0 on the young season after thumping Knoxville 44-8 on Friday night, Sept. 13.

The Trojans got off to a strong start and did most of their damage in the first half of the game. After holding Knoxville to a three-and-out to start the game, the Panthers punted and STC’s freshman Izak Schroeder returned the punt 55 yards for a touchdown and a 6-0 lead.

On the Trojan’s second possession of the game, they marched thirty yards to score on a 1-yard touchdown run by Schroeder. Schroeder also ran in the 2-point conversion to push the score to 14-0. The Panther’s next two possessions ended in Trojan interceptions, one by freshman Edwyn Perez and the other by freshman Ryan Brant. Both these interceptions led to Trojan scores — two touchdown runs by Brant of 9 and 12 yards. Later, Brant found sophomore Chanden Graybeal for a 50-yard touchdown pass, putting the score at 36-0 at the Half.

The second half saw the Trojan defense continue to stand strong, holding Knoxville to one touchdown score. STC’s points came when they recovered a fumble on the Panther’s 48-yard line. A nice drive was capped off by Schroeder’s third touchdown of the night, a run of 17-yards. This put the final tally at a 44-8 for a Trojan win.

The Trojan Frosh team (3-0) plays next on Friday. Their Homecoming week game kicks off at 4:45 p.m. at the South Tama High School Stadium.
