MASON CITY — South Tama County crowned two regional champions as part of a quartet of state qualifiers from a Region 7 tournament at Mason City High School last Friday.

Maeley Elsbury won the 135-pound title and Autumn Elsbury topped the podium at 170 pounds. Kinley Jimenez was 3rd at 235 pounds and Abigail Chyma 4th at 155 pounds.

Maeley claimed a 6-4 sudden victory over Waverly-Shell Rock’s Makana Miller in the finals, while Autumn received a medical forfeit in the finals after pinning Clear Lake’s Kayma Burleson in the semis.

Chyma went 3-2 on the day with losses to state qualifiers Macie Graves of Cedar Falls and Rory Siems of AGWSR. Jimenez was 3-1, losing a semifinal match with Madison Hinrichs of W-SR by fall and then pinning her next two opponents, including Tripoli’s Maci Bergmann in the third-place match.

Livia Smith just missed state qualification in fifth at 100 pounds and Brooklyn Mitchell was sixth at 145 pounds.
