Trojans beat East, drop doubleheaders to Solon, Mount Vernon

June 13

Monday June 13 saw South Tama face up against Solon away from home for a double header.

Solon came out on top in both games against the Trojans, winning the first matchup 11-1, and the second game 13-0. The lone STC RBI from these two games came from Gavin Bridgewater.

The tides would turn for the Trojans the following day as they won their matchup against Waterloo East 11-7.

Daniel Wiese pitched six innings, throwing 107 pitches, producing eight strikeouts and a 4.67 ERA on his way to securing a win. Ryne Kesl closed out the game for the Trojans.

Jordan Bly, Ryne Kesl and Kyle Finch were the hot bats for South Tama. Bly went two for four scoring each time he found his way onto the bases, including three RBIs, a double and a triple.

Kesl found hits twice in his four at bats, nodding in two RBIs himself off of two singles.

Finch, like Bly would also go two for three with three RBIs, his hits came in the way of two singles where he found home plate once.

Kyler Smith and Draysen Henle also added an RBI each.

The Trojans also used their speed in this one to help gain an advantage, stealing the bag seven times in seven attempts, with Jacob Collison leading South Tama with two steals.

June 16

South Tama hosted Mount Vernon in another double header that saw South Tama drop both games 7-4.

In game one South Tama started off hot garnering three runs in the first inning to jump out to an early lead.

However Mount Vernon would bounce back, sending home four runs in the third inning, and finishing the top of the seventh off with three more.

Jacob Collison pitched five innings, adding in seven strikeouts on 96 pitches.

Despite getting four runs, only two of them would come in the form of RBIs that came from the bats of Gavin Bridgwater and Draysen Henle.

Henle would end up with the best bat for the Trojans going two for three with two singles.

Jordan Bly added in the only stolen base for the Trojans this game.

Game 2

In game two, the Trojans would spread out their 4 runs across four different innings, still resulting in a 7-4 loss.

Ryne Kesl started the game on the mound, throwing 94 pitches through four innings, dealing two strikeouts.

Kian McBride would come in relief and throw 38 pitches in the final 3 innings striking out three and not allowing a single run.

South Tamas offense saw most of their production come from Daniel Wiese and Jordan Bly.

Wiese found base in both of his at bats with two singles, and found home each time as well adding in an RBI.

Bly went two for three with both of his hits resulting in doubles and one RBI, finding home once.

Gavin Bridgwater and Kyle Finch drove home the other two RBIs for South Tama.
