Trojan boys netters fall to Grundy Center

The South Tama boys tennis team hosted Grundy Center on April 26. Both teams’ seasons have been subject to several delays due to weather, but on this Tuesday afternoon, the sun was shining and tennis balls were flying.

South Tama and Grundy Center played six singles matches against each other, with three wins in the Trojans’ favor and three for the Spartans.

South Tama notched an 8-5 win for Eric Henry over Julian Lamp. Brayden Thompson won 8-6 against Trent Greiner, and Lennart Blank won a decisive 8-0 victory over Elias Cakerice.

Grundy Center’s three wins in singles came from Tanner Laube, Sloan Klar and Bryce Greiner.

With the games tied 3-3, it would come down to the three doubles matches. Grundy Center in total would take the series 2-1 over South Tama, with the lone Trojan doubles victory coming from the duo of Eric Henry and Lennart Blank by a margin of 8-5.

Unfortunately for South Tama, the deciding factors would come down to doubles victories for Grundy from the duo of Tanner Laube and Trent Greiner, as well as duo Sloan Klar and Bryce Greiner.

South Tama now sits unnder .500 at 4-5 on the season now, with their next meet coming against Marion away from home.
