South Tama girls’ basketball had a difficult season, winning just one game and not finding a victory in WaMaC West Division play. But in the tough conference, two Trojan seniors earned honorable mentions from the conference’s coaches.

Kailee Meek was South Tama’s leading scorer at 3.2 points per game on the season. She added 1.3 rebounds and 1.6 steals per contest, leading the team in the latter category.

Adriana Cervantes averaged just 2.6 points per game but grabbed three rebounds per game and added a steal and block on average for the Trojans.

Trojans’ Tyon earns second-team WaMaC West honors

Even though he only became eligible halfway through South Tama’s boys’ basketball season, senior guard Osceola Tyon scored his way into a second team All-WaMaC West Division honor. The Trojans won two games in 2021-22 and went 1-17 in the WaMaC West.

Tyon, who returned to South Tama for his senior season, played in 12 games total and started 10 of them, but in the short amount of time he was on the court he averaged 17.3 points per game (16 points per game in WaMaC play) with four rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals on average.

Seniors Trusten Rosenberger and Kendall Balderas were named honorable mentions. Rosenberger averaged 3.6 points and three rebounds per contest, while Balderas scored 4.5 points per contest and added 2.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals each night for the Trojans.
