South Tama girls receive postseason awards

The South Tama County girls basketball team held their team banquet on March 6 where they recognized several players with conference and coaches awards.

Varsity Letter Recipients: Lauren Veit, Takia Rosenberger, Kailee Meek, Arro Lyons, Emma Harwick, Sophie Shuckahosee, Kayla Heck, Bre Riha, Adriana Cervantes and Janette Cervantes.

WaMaC All-Conference Honorable Mention: Kailee Meek and Adriana Cervantes.

WaMaC All-Academic: Lauren Veit, Kailee Meek, Bre Riha and Neena Lesley.

Fresh/Soph Participation: Aubrey Dolezal, Sophie Shuckahosee, Madison Hitchcock, Takia Rosenberger, Janette Cervantes, Dionysus Papakee, Peyton Van De Walle and Sienna DeFoe.

Varsity Participation: Neena Lesley, Madison Hitchcock, Dionysus Papakee.

Coaches Awards

Madison Hitchcock – “The ‘Lil Train that Could” (continue to do work)

Sophie Shuchahosee – “Trojan” (all around good teammate)

Janette Cervantes – “Trojan” (all around good hustle)

Kayla Heck – “Stealth” (+50 pacer laps)

Takia Rosenberger – “Jump” (most jump gains, 10 inches)

Emma Harwick – “Hard Knocks” (always getting back up)

Dionysus Papakee – “I Think I’m Ready to Step-Up”

Arro Lyons – “It’s Mine” (most rebounds)

Adriana Cervantes – “Outstanding Player” (made a difference when she was on the court), “Taking a Stand” (most blocks for STC this season, 3rd in WaMaC West), “Hack Master” (most fouls for the season)

Neena Lasley – “Comeback Player” (after a long rehabilitation, player returns to the game she loves)

Bre Riha – “Comeback Player” (after a long rehabilitation, player returns to the game she loves)

Lauren Veit – “Bulls Eye” (best efficiency field goal percentage this season), “Can Take it and Give it” (demonstrated her tenacity while on the court)

Kailee Meek – “Jump Stop” (player stopped falling mid senior year), “Making a Point” (most points this season), “Impact Player” (stepped up and became the go-to player)
