PHOTOS: Trojans fall to West Delaware on Senior Night
South Tama hosted West Delaware on Friday, Feb. 4 for a WaMaC West versus WaMaC East matchup. The Hawks took a 19-6 lead in the first quarter and never faltered from there on out. West Delaware won the contest 87-37 on the same night South Tama boys basketball, cheerleading and the dance team celebrated Senior Night. This week the Trojans took a 72-44 loss on the road to Independence and narrowly missed their second win of the season, falling to Meskwaki Settlement in double overtime, 63-61.
Senior Osceola Tyon was the leading scorer for South Tama in each of the three games, scoring 22 points against West Delaware, 16 against Independence and 19 against Meskwaki.
Guards Cade Rosenberger and Daniel Wiese each had 13 against Meskwaki and were the only other Trojans to reach double figures across the three-game stint.
South Tama will take on third-ranked Washington on Feb. 21 in the opening round of the Class 3A playoffs. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. at Washington High School.
