Warriors trounce Wolverines

The Meskwaki girls’ basketball team remained unbeaten by handing GMG its first loss, beating the host Wolverines 63-32 in Friday’s Iowa Star Conference South Division clash.The Bear cousins — Geanna, Wakinyala and Sia — combined to score 52 of the Warriors’ 63 points. Geanna made three 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 23 points, Wakinyala added a pair of treys and 17 points, and Sia scored 12 points in the win for the Warriors (4-0, 2-0).

Adelyn Sienknecht led GMG (2-1, 1-1) with eight points, Jenna Yilek scored seven and Jocee Mason added five.

Meskwaki pulled away with a 24-6 second-quarter advantage to take a 25-point lead into the halftime break.
