The Iowa Print Sports Writers Association announced the 2021 all-state football awards late last month following the conclusion of the IHSAA championship games.

The Trojans were represented on the 3A all-state squad by senior Jacob Collison who was named to the third team.

South Tama’s season finished at 2-7 overall, but Collison was awarded for his efforts at the heart of the Trojan defense. Collison finished 14th in 3A in total tackles (71.5), including 51 solo stops and team-highs of 2.0 quarterback sacks and 8.0 tackles for loss.

Throughout the season Collison was all over the field for the Trojans, beginning the season on the offensive line and ending the season as the starting quarterback.

The IPSWA, in conjunction with the Iowa Football Coaches Association, selected three all-state teams in each of seven classes and picked captains for each. The captains selected were Lane Spieker of CAM, Anita (8-Man), Logan Knaack of Grundy Center (Class A), Casey Trudo of Van Meter (1A), Kolson Kruse of Southeast Valley (2A), Landyn Van Kekerix of Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley (3A), Nick Miller of Council Bluffs Lewis Central (4A) and Xavier Nwankpa of Southeast Polk (5A).
