South Tama’s dynamic duo of Tommy Tyynismaa and James Brant did what they’ve been doing all season long.

At the Class 3A state-qualifying district meet in Solon last Thursday, the pair turned in a top 10 finish that earned them a trip to the State Meet in Fort Dodge.

It will be the second such trip for Tyynismaa and the first for Brant, both who are sophomores on the Trojans squad.

The team as a whole finished solidly in fifth place, missing the team qualifying mark yet competing well against larger 3A schools.

On the girls side, senior JoJo Tyynismaa wrapped up her high school cross country career with a 23rd place finish, running close to 30 seconds behind the top 15 qualifying mark that would have advanced her to state.

STC’s two state runners will take on the course at Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge on Friday beginning at 3:15 p.m.
