South Tama and Meskwaki wrap up volleyball seasons

After Monday's 3-0 loss to Mount Vernon in the Class 3A playoffs, the South Tama volleyball team will bid farewell to seniors Gracie Vest, Lauren Veit and Adriana Cervantes.

Both the Trojans and the Warriors bowed out of the playoffs Monday following losses to ranked opponents.

On Oct. 18 South Tama traveled to Mount Vernon to take on the 3A No. 5 Mustangs.

Mount Vernon started out with a dominant 25-9 win in set one and kept control the rest of the way.

Final scores of the last two sets were 25-15 and 25-19.

The Mustangs went on to face West Marshall in the regional semifinal Wednesday evening.

The Trojans finished their year with a record of 14-22.

They will graduate three seniors including Gracie Vest, Lauren Veit and Adriana Cervantes.

Meskwaki had its hands full as well on Monday as they took on Class 1A No. 12 North Tama in Traer.

The Redhawks shut down the Warriors in straight sets with scores of 25-4, 25-5 and 25-9.

Meskwaki ended their season with a record of 0-24-1 and will graduate seniors Shye Johnson, Leila Wabasha, Geanna Bear and Ayanna Brown.
