Janesville blows out Meskwaki

A slow start was the death knell for Meskwaki football in its 68-30 season-opening loss to Janesville last Friday.

A staggering 54-point first quarter from the Wildcats put the game out of reach early on, and no points were scored in the second quarter. Meskwaki (0-1) scored 14 points in the third quarter and 16 in the fourth, but the deficit was too great.

Larnell Bear led Meskwaki with 77 yards passing, one touchdown and one interception. Eleron Youngbear threw for 35 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions.

Nathaniel Seymour caught a 38-yard touchdown pass and Zayton Weninger-Brown had two catches for 28 yards and a score. Bear rushed for 56 yards and a touchdown, and also had a 76-yard kickoff return for touchdown.
