Trojans bring home Senior Night win
South Tama claimed a dual win over WaMaC opponent Solon at a home dual last week.
The Trojans finished the 45-29 team victory over the Spartans.
The evening began at weight class 195. South Tama’s Ryne Kesl fell to Erich Karsten
The Trojans also took a loss at 220 after Kalem Schrock lost 13-1 to Gage Marty.
Solon’s Nash Altman won 5-2 over Rudy Papakee at 285.
STC’s MaCael Bear broke Solon’s run pinning Tyson Wheeler at 106.
At 113 Brody Chyma also pinned his opponent Kyler Jessup.
Solon’s 120 Lawson Sinnwell stuck Amare Chavez.
At 126 Ethan Cruikshank won by major decision, 7-2 over Milo Ashbacker.
STC’s 132 pounder Logan Arp stuck Austin Schwake.
Kyler Smith also got a fall for the Trojans, pinning Kadem Lamm at 138.
At 145 STC’s Andres Lugo kept things rolling by pinning David Karam.
Solon snagged two more wins at 152 and 160. Caleb Ebert won by tech fall over Brady Knode and Hayden Taylor also won by tech fall over Boden Koehler. Taylor is a two time state champ for the Spartans.
STC closed out the night with two seniors capturing wins.
At 170 Payton Vest pinned Lucas Kampman and Brayden Smith pinned Lucas TePoel.
Following the dual, the Trojans celebrated Senior Night honoring Kalem Schrock, Brady Knode, Devon Slagle, Brennan Bergmann, Payton Vest, Brayden Smith, manager Alyssa Chyma and cheerleaders Lily Avila, Ashlynn Ellenbecker, Ashlynn Laybon, Madison McDaniel and Kenya Hackenmiller.
The Trojans will be in action this Saturday at the East Marshall/GMG tournament in LeGrand.
The Trojans will also be sending their first ever female wrestler to the 2021 IWCOA Girls State tournament Jan. 22. Maeley Elsbury will enter the tournament seeded 5th in the competition.
