Looking to bring their record above .500 the Meskwaki Warriors traveled to Collins-Maxwell in Week 5.

The Warriors were again supported by an outstanding effort from senior quarterback Taurice Grant who accounted for all but two of Meskwaki’s 44 points.

Collins-Maxwell however was a step and about 15 points ahead of Meskwaki most of the evening however.

Eight different players found the end zone for Collins-Maxwell and the Spartans were able to score four rushing touchdowns, five receiving touchdowns, and two special teams touchdowns.

The Spartans lit up the box score, outscoring the Warriors in three of four quarters, finishing the game with a final score 76-44.

Evan Nelson was the primary target for Grant with seven receptions and 96 yards. Nelson also led the defense in tackles (12) and interceptions (1).

Tiernan Wanatee had a nice outing with 43 yards receiving, one touchdown, a two-point conversion, two fumble recoveries, and six tackles to help out the Warriors.

Grant meanwhile continues on his tear through the Class 8 stat ranks, currently fourth in the state in total touchdowns (25) and all purpose yards (1709) heading into the final two weeks of the regular season.

The Warriors will play their last home game this week against Twin Cedars (0-3) and will wrap up the regular season on the road at BGM (4-1) next week.
