STC seniors honored at Senior Night

Five seniors from the STC Boys Basketball team played their final minutes on their home court Tuesday, February 4. Lincoln Kingbird, Javin Lasley, Mylik Wanatee, Tyrin Lasley and Sonny DeMarce were recognized along with their families before the start of the varsity game. Also Senior basketball managers Kaisha Wanatee and Rylee Campbell were introduced along with senior cheerleaders Allison Thomazin and Alexes Baeza. Pep band members were also introduced.

The Trojans hosted Solon (5-13) for the game. The Trojans really struggled to get anything going offensively especially in the third quarter. As the night went on though, the Trojans found more opportunities to score. DeMarce led with 10 points. Tyler Moran and Tyrin Lasley each had three rebounds. Solon won the contest 70-36.

South Tama will finish out their season on the road with travel to Williamsburg on Friday, Independence next Monday and Central DeWitt next Friday.

Substate assignments for Classes 3A and 4A are now available for the 2020 basketball postseason.

Postseason competition begins with opening round games on Monday, February 24. Eight teams from each class advance to the 2020 state tournament, set for March 9-13 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Pairings will be available in February following coaches’ seeding meetings.
