Trojans defeat Center Point-Urbana 64-18

South Tama County wrestling hosted Center Point-Urbana on Thursday, January 9. The Trojans defended their home mat, winning 64-18.
The evening started at weight class 113. Fourth ranked Cole Whitehead of CPU took a forfeit as STC is open at 113.
At 120 Teegan Fuessley of CPU stuck Ethan Cruikshank (1:55). This win gave the Pointers an 18-0 lead.
The Trojans came back quickly in the next two matches. At 126 Logan Arp pinned Matt Hearn (1:00).
At 132 Kyler Smith won over Bryston Raue by major decision, 11-1.

Brady Knode fell to CPU’s 10th ranked Keegan Scheeler at 138. Scheeler was the final wrestler to score points for the Pointers.
At 145 Boden Koehler made quick work to pin Dylan Griswold. Koehler’s match brought the Trojans within two points of the Pointers early lead of 18-16.
Garrett Arp then quickly pinned Tyler Foreman at 152. Arp’s win gave the Trojans a 22-18 lead and the Trojans never looked back.
Logan Schmidt, Brayden Smith and Aaron Neave all took forfeits at 160, 170 and 182 as CPU is open in those weight classes.
With matches resuming at 182, STC’s Payton Vest pinned Kaden Neal (1:14).

At 220 Kalem Schrock stuck Cooper Lindaman (3:10).
Then at 285 Rudy Papakee pinned Henry Hingst (4:22).
The varsity portion of the meet ended with Brody Chyma taking a forfeit for the Trojans.
The night was sandwiched with five JV matches. Haydin Branan recorded two wins for the Trojans while Draysen Henle had one match and one win. Eddie Garcia and Ryne Kesl also wrestled but lost their matches. The STC JV narrowly edged out the Pointers 14-12.
Also happening at the home meet was the introduction of the Trojan Warrior Elite wrestlers.

The Trojans will be on the road on Saturday, competing at the Ankeny Tournament.
