Lowe Wins Heart of America Offensive Player of the Week

Sports Editor Note: Jerry Lowe graduated from South Tama in 2016. While at STC Lowe was involved in football, wrestling, soccer, and track. Lowe was a Class 2A first team running back in his Senior year for the Trojans. He is the son of Ron and Brenda Lowe of Tama.

Kansas City, Missouri For the second week in a row, a Viking player has been awarded the Offensive Player of the Week for the Heart of America Conference. This week it was running back Jerry Lowe (JR/Tama, IA./ South Tama HS.) who received the honor.

Lowe carried the ball 24 times and accumulated 160 yards in Grand View’s 45-28 victory over Peru State. The junior tailback rushed for 2 touchdowns as well. On one drive during their victory over the Bobcats, Lowe ran the ball 4 times for 69 yards out of the Vikings’ 6 play 73-yard drive. The South Tama product finished the drive by carrying the ball across the goal line from 25 yards out.

Lowe is No. 8 in the NAIA in rushing yards per contest with 122 yards/game. The bruising back also ranks in the Top-10 in total rushing with 732 yards.
