Trojans easily defeat Bobcats, Clippers

South Tama travelled to Clear Creek-Amana on Thursday, Dec 14 for a double dual against the Clippers and the Benton Bobcats.

The first dual of the evening was between STC and Benton starting at weight class 170. STC’s Josh Thiessen pinned Hunter Shaw (3:22). At 182 Payton Vest of South Tama pinned Zacharia Crawford (3:37). STC’s Dalton Rosenburg received a forfeit at 195. At 220 STC’s Mario Moncada stuck Bryce Timmerman. Benton’s Easton Werner received a forfeit at 285. Then the Trojans Brody Chyma received a forfeit at 106. Class 113 was a double forfeit. At 120 Benton got it’s only win from an actual contest with Wyatt Biecschke getting a tech fall over Brady Knode (5:29). At 126 STC’s Brayden Sith pinned Hunter Northup (1:47). At 132 STC’s Brady Fritz pinned Austin Timmerman (:41). Garrett Arp of South Tama won in overtime over Austin Roos (SV-1 4-2). At 145 Colton Vest (STC) pinned Tyler Miller (:32). At 152 Isaac Judge pinned Christian Atkinson (1:28), and at 160 Pedro Rodriguez (STC) won by decision (6-1) over Brody Scheer.

The Trojans ended the dual with seven pins, two wins by forfeit, one overtime win and one win by decision. The Trojans gave up just one match to forfeit as they are open at 113 for a final score of 60-11.

The next dual for the Trojans was with the home team CCA. The dual started at 182. Payton Vest (STC) pinned Grant Haman (;44). At 195 STC’s Dalton Rosenburg won by decision (12-5) over Kyle Pitlick. At 220 Tanner Cochran received a forfeit for the Clippers. Mario Moncada (STC) bumped up to 285 for the dual and pinned Jonah Upah (3:47). At 106 Brody Chyma (STC) pinned Mike Marrow (:43). The Clippers Noach Banward received a forfeit at 113. At 120 Samuel Stevens who was ranked preseason by IA wrestle at 106 got a tech fall over Brady Knode (19-3 5:48). At 126 STC’s Brayden Smith pinned Randal Moiser (1:31). At 132 Brady Fritz received a forfeit. At 138 Garrett Arp pinned Nate Beckman (:51). Colton Vest (STC) pinned Andrew Rohret at 145 (4:11). At 152 Isaac Judge pinned Harrison Cory (1:41). At 160 Pedro Rodriguez pinned Cole Pfister (Fall 1:46) and at 170 Josh Thiessen closed the night for the Trojans receiving a forfeit.

The Trojans topped CCA 63-17 with eight pins, one decision win, gave up two forfeits and received two forfeits.

The Trojans travelled to Pella on Saturday for the annual Bill Van Horn Invitational. Full results and photos will be in Fridays Tama News-Herald.

The Trojans will be returning to the mats following the winter break on Thursday, January 4 for a double dual with Williamsburg and Independence at Independence.
