Marion hosted South Tama and Clear Creek-Amana for a double dual wrestling meet on Thursday, December 15.

New to the Trojan varsity lineup was freshman Garrett Arp (145). This was Arp’s first varsity action of the season. He jumped into the lineup as the domino effect of Brady Fritz, Tanner Probasco, and Colton Vest each dropping a class provided an opening at the 145 weight class.

On December 13 iawrestle.com released their second round of rankings for the season. At 126 Brady Fritz jumped from 5th to ranked 3rd in Class 2A. Tanner Probasco dropped one step in 132 from 5th to 6th. Colton Vest remains ranked 3rd at 145 but he looks to be making his move to 138. Isaac Judge remains ranked 2nd at 152. STC’s 160-pound wrestler Pedro Rodriguez dropped out of the rankings. Only time will tell how the chips will fall.

First to take the mats on Thursday were STC and CCA. South Tama remains open at 106, 113, and 120 but managed to narrowly edge CCA out, winning 38-37.

At 138 Colton Vest (STC) defeated Quinn Murphy by major decision (10-2).

At 145 Andrew Rohret (CCA) defeated Garrett Arp by major decision (14-3).

At 152 Isaac Judge (STC) received a forfeit.

At 160 Pedro Rodriguez (STC) received a forfeit.

At 170 Tanner Walz (STC) received a forfeit.

At 182 Dalton Rosenburg (STC) received a forfeit.

At 195 Tanner Cochran (CCA) defeated Cael Kellogg by decision (3-2).

At 220 Cole White (CCA) pinned Mario Moncada (1:46).

At 285 Ethan Taylor (CCA) pinned Daniel Ochoa (:11).

At 106 Samuel Stevens (CCA) received a forfeit.

At 113 Shiloh Robbins (CCA) received a forfeit.

At 120 Alex Floryanovich (CCA) received a forfeit.

At 126 Brady Fritz (STC) pinned Myshawn Smith (:57).

At 132 Tanner Probasco (STC) defeated Jordan Delaney by major decision (15-3).

In the second dual of the evening South Tama faced Class 3A Marion. The dual started at 145 with Arp’s second varsity match of his career. He faced 6th ranked senior Caleb Conway. Conway was the only ranked wrestler for the Indians. Marion edged out STC 42-38 and went on to top CCA 48-33.
