Trojans come from behind for 57-48 win over Grundy Center

The South Tama Trojans (4-4) hosted Grundy Center (6-1) on Thursday, December 10 for a non-conference game. The Spartans were looking to uphold their undefeated status.

Starting for the Trojans were Kallie Hala, Dani Stubbs, Madie Bacon, Ryan Roberts and Tieranny Keahna. Starting for Grundy Center were Hailey Wallis, Katie Lindeman, Alyssa Mathews, Brook Flater and Jill Itzen.

In the first half the Spartans came out very strong. They outscored the Trojans in both quarters 14 to 11 and 16 to 14 and led 30-25 going into the half.

After a very low scoring third quarter, the Trojans scored nine while Grundy Center scored four things began to click into place for the Trojan offense.

The Trojans evened the score at 34 and slowly but surely they took control of the game in fourth quarter. Bacon led the team in scoring with 20 points but it was a collective effort in the fourth quarter to guarantee the 57-48 win. Stubbs and Keahna each dropped in much needed shots in the paint during crunch time. Minnie Climer then sunk two free within the final minute to give the Trojans a comfortable lead.

The Trojans will be at home on Friday for a conference game against Clear Creek-Amana. The Clippers are currently 2-5.
