The STC Archery club hosted its first Iowa State qualifying meet on Sat. Dec. 5 at the STC High School gym. Twenty schools from Iowa participated with 231 archers ranging from 9 to 18 years of age.

STC archers took home both the 2nd and 3rd place trophies in their respective middle and elementary school divisions. This was only the second year of competition in state tournaments. Last year only a middle school group of 8th graders traveled to 7 tournaments. This year they added an elementary team and a high school team. Their total enrollment is 45 archers ranging from 4th though through 12th grade.

High praise was received from the coaches and parents of the teams participating. They were impressed by the friendliness and professional quality of the tournament.

The STC teams will travel to Cedar Rapids on Dec. 19 to compete in the Center Point Urbana Stormin’ Archery tournament at Hawkeye Downs.
