Here comes the — crack — bride!
Pastor Mike Nodland of the Christian Fellowship Church in Vining, IA.
Weddings are entertaining! Each is different from the other. And the inevitable seems to always occur. I went to a friend’s wedding where lit candles were placed on the floor at the end of each row. The problem was that the candles kept getting bumped and tipped over with ensuing panic.
Another wedding, and the candles caught fine fabric bows afire creating another chaotic scene. Still another wedding — our own — and we lit unity candles, but my wife could not get her candle to extinguish after our flames were united with the unity candle!
The wedding to “take the cake” was in an old church with worn out, heaving and swaying pews. Unsuspectingly, as we sat in one, everyone slid to the middle of the sway, making us inches from the floor. The wedding began as we discreetly slithered away from the middle of the weak pew. However, with every movement, that cranky old pew let out unmistakable, deafening cracking. Sitting paralyzed with fear, we waited for the final crack!
The Bible tells us that when Christ returns, lightning will come from the east and shine unto the west. I believe we may hear the loudest crack of all: Jesus, coming for His Bride, the Church! Are you ready — trust in Jesus today!
