Happy Father’s Day
Did you call him Dad? Or perhaps Pops? Maybe Pa, (like in The Rifleman and Bonanza)? Or if things are serious, it might simple be Father! Or when you’re out with the guys, was he ever called “your old man?” Well, whatever handle you put on him, he was the guy you looked up to, expected to protect you and demanded the very best from you. He didn’t say much but when he spoke, you had better be listening. But deep down, he was also a big softie, right? Sometimes much easier to work things out than Mom. Yep, dear old Dad! Sunday is your day.
Now I don’t know about all of you reading this, but my Dad had some famous sayings over the years.
Here are a few:
This is the last time I’m gonna tell you.
Don’t look at me like that.
Two wrongs will not make a right.
Because I’m the Dad and you’re not.
I am not going to tell that again.
It is no use talking to a wall.
We never did that when we were young.
Go and ask your mother.
Will you let me read the paper in peace?
So if Joey jumped off a cliff, would you too?
How many times do I need to tell you the same thing?
What? Did you learn that in school?
If I catch you doing that one more time….
Guys don’t cry.
When I get home I will straighten you up.
If you think that buddy, you got another think-a-coming.
How many times do I have to tell you that… ?
You’ll be sorry son!
I want you to act your age, for once
Don’t make me come and get you.
YOU DID WHAT????
And finally…….”Son, I’m proud of you. Way to go.”
Now, here’s a few things our Dads would never, ever say”
Well, how about that? I think I’m lost! I’ll just pull into this place and ask for directions.
Here’s the car keys and my credit card. Have fun.
You’re mother and I will be gone for the weekend. It’s ok to have a bunch of your friends over. Have fun.
You wanna get a job? Come on, I make enough for all of us. Just ask me anytime you need some more money.
Curfew? Nah, I think you’re responsible enough to decide when it’s a good time to get home.
Hey son, if you feel like it, go ahead and mow the lawn. But if you don’t, that’s ok too.
Well, that’s Dads for you. HAPPY FATHER’S DAY TO ALL YOU DADS, POPS, STEP-DADS AND GRAND-DADS OUT THERE. HAVE A GREAT DAY.
