A Few of My Favorite Things

John Sheda

Last time we talked about pet peeves; those things that just irritate the “bejeebers” out of us. Well, fair is fair, so this week, just settle yourself down, relax a bit, close your eyes and sing along with me;

“RAINDROPS ON ROSES AND WHISKERS ON KITTENS

BRIGHT COPPER KETTLES AND WARM WOOLEN MITTENS

BROWN PAPER PACKAGES TIED UP WITH STRINGS.

THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS…”

So here are some or our favorite things-yours and mine perhaps.

Eighteen holes of uninterrupted golf, and maybe getting a par or two, or better yet, a birdie.

Hearing a good joke and laughing until tears roll down my cheeks.

Playing board games with the family and again having those moments of hysterical laughter.

Learning to wake up each morning and enjoying the journey the day has for me.

Day Dream.

Getting that first produce from the garden. Love that first home grown tomato of the season. Mmmm.

I love a nice thunderstorm.

Growing up, Mom and Dad would go for rides around Chelsea and they’d let me sit in the middle. Great times.

Speaking of rain. I love a nice rainy afternoon and taking a nice well deserved, (or not), nap.

Going to the park and just watching the grand kids play and they being old enough to play on their own.

Grandchildren! What a delight. Should of had them first!!!!

I love Blue Bloods and Deb loves Dancing With The Stars.

She also likes spring time and getting the windows open.

Evening walks are always nice.

Doing something nice for someone else is always fun.

We all love vacations. We love going to Seattle to visit our daughter.

Also love going to a couple Yankee baseball games

And sneaking away in the afternoon for a late breakfast somewhere and taking in a movie.

These are a few of my favorite things. “When I’m feeling sad, I simply remember my favorite things and Then I don’t feel so bad.”
