Historic Bridge: Walden’s Pond

Letter to the Editor:

In Henry Walden’s book, On Walden’s Pond, he depicted a tranquil setting in Massachusets that allowed him to set aside his immediate thoughts and think about what really mattered. There is an empty grass lot next to my house, on Harmon Street that was given to the city. Why not put the Lincoln bridge there? Any one who’s been to Clive / West Des Moines would be impressed by their use of green space to design really neat and charming ‘tranquil spaces”. This bridge could be a pedestrian bridge and with the same cultural diligence could really spruce up the lower end of town.

Everybody wins and Mayor Carnahan is no longer caught in the middle.
