Another Untrue Statement by Sheriff Kucera

On October 3, 2016, at the Farm Burea Forum, Sheriff Kucera finally admitted that the Tama County Sheriff’s Office does not provide 24 hour, seven day a week coverage. Although in the past, Sheriff Kucera has said the Sheriff’s Office did provide 24 hour, seven day a week coverage, his previous statements about this coverage., were simply untrue and misleading. I stated at the forum that I provided 24 hour coverage with a 5 man department, I could do the same coverage with a 13 man department.

At the same forum, Sheriff Kucera stated that, “98 of 99 Iowa County Sheriff’s Departments” operate this way. This statement was in reference to 24 hour coverage, seven days a week. This is an untrue statement and misleading to the citizens of Tama County. Sheriff Kucera is saying that only one county in the State of Iowa provides 24 hour coverage, seven days a week. Sheriff Kucera wants you to believe that 24 hour coverage is uncommon. That is simply not true.

After doing research, I found several counties that provide 24 hour coverage, seven days aweek. Here is a short list that do provide this service. Marshall, Linn, Johnson, Polk, Black Hawk, Pottawattamie, Story, Lee., Clinton, Muscatine, Dallas, Keokuk, Cherokee, Des Moines, Webster, Cerro Gordo, Delaware, Madison, Adair, Union, Jasper, Iowa, and Dubuque Counties. That is a far cry from one county. The fact of the matter is, I don’t care what other counties do, I care about Tama County.

Because I care about what Tama County does, I would also like to comment briefly on what Bruce Rhoads stated in his letter to the editor. The statements Rhoads made about everything Dennis Kucera does is nothing different from what all law enforcement agencies and officers do. We make decisions that we think is best for the citizens in which we serve and protect.

Law enforcement officers are not to be untruthful and misleading. When one puts on the badge and raises his/her right hand, he/she swears to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. One does not swear to be untruthful and misleading.

Sheriff Dennis Kucera has been untruthful about 24 hour coverage, seven days a week since the 2012 election. He has mislead you to believe that he is the Executive Director of 911 and EMA, which he is not. Sheriff Kucera was also untruthful and misleading about 98 of 99 counties operating without 24 hour coverage.

Let’s not be mislead and deal with untruthfulness for another four years. i ask for your support and vote on November 8.
