Letter to the Editor:

Coach Keahna and the STC Girls Basketball Team wants to send out a special thank you to the Tama/Toledo Communities for all of their generosity and support at their 2nd Annual Coaches vs. Cancer Night. This year’s event was held on Friday, Jan. 30th against Independence. Due to everyone’s generosity, the girls were able to collect a total of $1,007.52!

A special thank you to the following businesses and individuals for their support: OK Tire, Scharnweber Water Conditioning Inc., Julie Hagerty, and Donna Smith. A special thank you goes to Mr. Bearden who hosted a bake sale at the STC Elementary the week before the event. The STC Elementary Staff also donated $50 from their Jeans Fund.

We’d also like to thank the following people for supplying silent auction items: Jill Kalinay of Beauti Control, Jill Miller of Premier Jewelry, Laurie Bacino of Paparazzi, Linda Glendy for the STC Stepping Stone, Tricia Gonyo for a Subway gift card, Keely Upah of Scentsy, Grace Adele, and Thirty-one, Steve Bearden for his college baskets and Jacque Kopsa of It Works for a beauty wrap.

The following individuals gave of their time to help the evening be a huge success: Steve Bearden, Keely Upah and Emily Hopper for setting up and running the Take a Pie to the Face and auction tables; Jim Husak for announcing the night’s events, Brenda Husak, Tom Clancy, Kathy Holtz and Ben Adams for running the half court shot contests, and the STC Cheerleaders for Passing the Buckets between the ball games!

Thanks to the high school staff volunteers for the Take A Pie To The Face Contest-Jackie Ellenbecker, Nancy Dostal, Dixie Forcht, and Seth Koch! A shout out also needs to go to the high school’s janitorial staff for all of their help with set up and cleanup!

Without the help of all of these individuals, the night would not have been a success. The communities of Tama/Toledo and STC are truly amazing and Coach Keahna is very proud to be a part of them. Thank you again for your continued support!
