This week’s Toledo City Council meeting saw another step forward into the future for the now merged police department. No longer the Tama Police Department or the Toledo Police Department, but now the Tama-Toledo Police Department, they’ve officially sworn in a new era. The last officer of the Tama Police Department, the former interim chief, the mustachioed peace officer Tyler Ayala-Pagan, was sworn in officially to the new department as Patrol Sergeant. Alongside the Sergeant was the fresh-faced youngster Parker Kercheval, who was sworn in as a new officer. Kercheval will be sent to the Law Enforcement Academy in January.
Other parts of the meeting included a public hearing for the sale of a vacated alley at 102 East Street. With no comments being received, the council went on to approve directing the sale of the alley and approving the form of deed.
Jesse Bevins was approved to start with Toledo EMS.
A public hearing for the FY27 budget amendment was set for 11/9/26.
The public works director reported that after receiving complaints and being chewed out by multiple people over several items, he has “No a** left.” It was also reported that they worked and painted at the pool. The Church Street sewer was fixed. The salt for winter is in. They have street patching to do, as well as maybe one last round of mowing.

The police chief reported that between Oct. 12 and 25, they received 191 calls and made three arrests. They’ve encountered a few problems regarding IT and getting everything transferred for the merge. One vehicle is having problems as well.
The clerk attended the IMFOA conference.
