Tama council finalizes joint police department agreement
This week’s Tama City Council meeting started with an update on a nuisance property, and they decided to extend the deadline for the property’s cleanup.
Next up, there were two public hearings, the first being for the water plant. With no comment, the council approved the environmental study.
The next public hearing was on the environmental review for PFAS, which was approved by the council.
The second reading for the changing of the code of ordinances so that the Tama Police Department can join with Toledo’s was approved. The council then went on to waive the third reading. The council finally approved the 28E agreement to join the departments.
After much discussion with the owner, the council approved going with the signed contract.
The council then talked to another set of citizens who wanted approval to tear down a house. The council said that as long as there is a livable space on the property in two years, they are good.
The council approved a 50-hour vacation payout to Tama interim Police Chief Tyler Ayala-Pagan. The council approved pay application #3 for library repairs.
Public Works Director Stuart Eisentrager was approved to use up to $20,000 of the Public Safety funds to fix sidewalks. The fire department was approved to use a section of the old paper mill property for a training room.
It was approved that the concrete will be replaced at the cemetery shelter house. The public works department reported working on a valve and mowing.
The fire department talked about it being Fire Prevention Week and all the goings on that will accompany the informative event. The police department reported having to talk to some teenagers that got up to shenanigans during homecoming week.
