Push, Pull, and Drive: The truck and tractor pull

The engine roared, the tires spun, and dirt was thrown through the air as trucks dragged the sled down the track. The day started with the local Deer Creek Pullers hosting a mower and side-by-side pull. The main pull started mid-afternoon on Saturday as the Midwest Pullers Association got things going.
This slobberknocker extravaganza was hosted by the Tama and Toledo Fire Departments. Tama Fire Department member and Tama Councilperson Kristy Eisentrager stated, “It was great. We’re very happy that everybody donated around town; that’s what made this possible for us to be able to put it on. I’m glad we can see both Tama and Toledo Fire Departments working together and having an event together, bringing us closer as a community and having something all together.”
Although the event wasn’t without its tribulations, as the rain posed a problem and the sled that the trucks and tractors pulled experienced technical difficulties. Those in attendance did not falter at the sight of these minor problems, and neither did those hosting the event. Eisentrager stated that they are already looking forward to having the event next year, just with a different sled, so hopefully the breakdowns are less frequent.
