EMS discussions at this week’s Tama City Council Meeting
EMS was the subject of multiple agenda items at this week’s Tama City Council meeting. The council was informed about some small repairs on unit 241 and a new brush guard that was attached.
The council approved a few new members for EMS staffing as well, pending volunteer approval. The first is Cole Eisentrager, who will be a driver. The second is Larry Thomas, who will need no training.
The next EMS Item was to pay for a unit to cover certain sporting events and motocross. The council approved putting the event pay on the payroll. The possibility of the pay being reimbursed by the essential service fund was discussed.
EMS staffing was discussed, and it was approved to advertise for a PRN.
Next up was a discussion over purchasing a Life Pack 35. Tama EMS has money earmarked for the item. After some discussion, the council approved ordering the item with volunteer approval.
As both the positions of Tama EMS Administrator and Tama Police Chief are currently filled by an interim employee, the council discussed reviewing those in the positions every 60 days and paying out a lump sum amount for the extra work that the employees are performing. This topic was tabled until the next meeting.
