Storyteller presents ‘Coal Car Riggs and Little Eva: The Great Depression in Iowa’ May 13 at Wieting Theatre

TOLEDO – The Tama County Historical Society will host storyteller Darrin Crow for a program titled “Coal Car Riggs and Little Eva: The Great Depression in Iowa” on Wednesday, May 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the Wieting Theatre, 101 S. Church St, Toledo.

This first-person story weaves together the lives of Coal Car Riggs, a hobo and the young farm girl Eva Killen as each struggles to survive in the Great Depression. Along the way they will cross paths with Grant Wood, Jeff Davis the Hobo King, and the Million Dollar Mulligan.

Crow is known for telling powerful, imaginative, and engaging stories that keep audiences on the edge of their seats and stick with them long after the tale ends. Whether in a classroom, museum, festival, art fair, or ancient Greek amphitheater, he crafts stories that deliver exactly what the listeners need.

This event is free and open to the public.
