Monday night’s school board meeting was short and sweet with little on the agenda. Both Joe Hanus and Megan Thiessen were once again absent leaving the decisions to be made by only three of five board members.

With no presentations or public comments, the board moved right through the agenda. The most noteworthy item with the approval of the certified and classified employee handbook, which included the new and contentious code of conduct already discussed during the previous two board meetings. Both Joy Schirmer and Dixie Forcht warned of different staff member concerns with the proposed handbook and code of conduct.

With reassurance from Superintendent John Cain, the handbooks were passed with relatively little discussion.

It was reported that nearly all positions within the district have been filled. After a near record 50 minute meeting, the board dismissed, set to convene again on Sept. 8.
