Traer Historical Museum BBQ fundraiser set for June 8
Proceeds earmarked for new heat pump system
TRAER – The Traer Historical Museum will hold a fundraising barbecue at the Traer Memorial building on Sunday, June 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Tama County Pork Producers will be grilling pork loins and pork burgers. The Traer Museum board will serve the sandwiches along with sides, desserts, and beverages. The museum will be accepting free will offerings for the lunch.
Books and commemorative items sold at the museum will be available along with a few silent auction items. The Traer Historical Museum will be open for tours. A scavenger hunt will be available to find items in the museum.
The Traer Shaker Gallery will have a table of salt and pepper shakers available for purchase with funds going to the Shaker Gallery.
Barbecue proceeds will be used to replace the air conditioners that were installed over 30 years ago by Ernie Pusteoska. The new heat pump system will cool the building and also provide heat. The existing furnace will be kept for additional heat during extremely cold temperatures. Managing temperature and humidity is important to preserve the historic documents, photos, clothing and displays at the museum. In addition to heating and cooling, the museum has dehumidifiers in the basement to control humidity.
Please take a break from cooking and enjoy a grilled pork loin or pork burger while supporting our local museum.
