Half off agenda

This week’s Toledo City Council meeting

On a late rainy Tuesday afternoon, the Toledo City Council came together for their bi-weekly meeting. Among the four agenda items, one was tabled, and no action was taken on another, leaving a diminutive agenda.

In a rubber-stamped event, the council approved the usual street closures, the east side of Broadway between State and High, for the annual Stoplight Festival.

A resolution was approved for a local match for the hazard mitigation assistance program. This is to get generators for the Baustian lift station, and the public works shop.

Toledo Police Chief Dan Quigley reported that between May 12 and 25, the department received 131 calls to service and affected four arrests. The explorer is having problems. The Chief also reported that there have been several serious domestic assault calls and investigations of late.

After the city clerk reported that she is working on ordinances, a discussion ensued among the council about the new state legislation regarding the discharge of fireworks on certain days.
