This week’s Tama County Supervisors meeting

TOLEDO – A chill lay in the morning air, a late fall touch that left windows covered with the designs of frost. This Monday, locals made quick work of nature’s delicately feathered ice crystals and drove up to join in the week’s Supervisors meeting. The activity that usually acts as the starter pistol to the supervisor’s meeting, the report from County Engineer Ben Daleske, was skipped over this week as the Engineer was on vacation abroad.

The HR department had a document in need of the supervisor’s signatures. This document was for the 3% raise for the Roads Department.

Next up on the agenda was the opening of sealed bids for the one-year lease of approximately 120 acres of county cropland. Chairman Curt Hilmer, with a flourish and a smile, unsealed and read aloud the five bids received. John and Paul Murty were the winners of this auction in envelopes, with a bid of $40,656.

The service that has done the County’s audits in recent years decided not to continue, so the supervisors approved transferring to the business of Eide Bailly.

The supervisors approved the resignation of Board of Adjustment member Kurt Kelley. Kelley resigned due to work related reasons. This leaves two current open positions on the Board of Adjustment, after the recent resignation of Todd Sebesta.

The last time the supervisors took applications for the Board of Adjustment, they received five in total. They will interview three of those applicants for the open board seats.

Claims totaling $735,071.79 were approved.
