Buying helmets, shields, and PH testers
This week’s Tama city council meeting
TAMA – The first Tama City Council meeting of October started with a quick public hearing. After the public hearing, the resolution for a budget amendment to the FY25 budget was approved.
The possibility of a burn ban was talked about, and it was decided to go week to week.
The purchase of tactical shields, helmets, and hearing protection for the police department was approved. The shields cost approximately $17,000, the helmets cost approximately $7,800, and the hearing protection costs approximately $1,400. All of the items are budgeted.
A resolution to transfer funds quarterly for EMS was approved. It was also approved for EMS to purchase a Lucas CPR device for approximately $18,000, which is a discounted price for bargain hunter and head of Tama EMS Jimmy Hicklin.
The wastewater department was approved to purchase a portable PH meter kit that will help with readings. The kit costs approximately $2,000, which is budgeted.
