Tama council’s public hearing on traffic cameras sparsely attended

Virtually no one showed up to this week’s Tama Council Meeting for the Traffic Camera Public Hearing. This is a surprise to those of us who were witness to the public’s discussion on the subject at the council meeting the week before last.

When the Public Hearing was brought to order, no one present had any comments of note. After the public’s metaphorical shrug of indifference, It was approved to set the second reading of the amended ordinance on Dec. 18.

The council went on to change the fees for nuisance snow removal and lawn care. The fee is now $200 for the first offense as a warning and $250 every time thereafter.

Speaking of snow removal, the city received only one bid for the snow removal contract. M.D.H. Properties owned and operated by local Morgan D. Haughey put in the bid, $85 per individual or residential lot and $245 per individual or residential lot adjacent to State Street. M.D.H Properties’ bid was accepted.

The council also approved the termination of the 5th Street Bridge contract with Boulder Contracting LLC.

The last thing to be approved by the council was the replacement of the 9th Street culvert. The project will most likely be done in the spring and take around a week.
