TOLEOD – The biggest thing on the agenda for this week’s Tama County Supervisors meeting was the discussion of the Historical Society’s lease on the building. Or was it? The original lease for the Historical Society’s building, drafted in 1973, was good for 50 years. This lease would have ended this year.

However, County Attorney Brent Heeren attended this week’s meeting to inform us that that is not the case. Back in 2000, things were redone so that when the original lease ended this year, that it would be automatically extended another fifty years. So, after Heeren informed everyone of this, nothing had to be done.

The Tama County Engineer reported that the blades are working and preparations are being made for winter. The Toledo Deer Creek bridge is nearing completion with the next step being the pouring of the approaches. A bridge is being removed on K Avenue this week, and another bridge on I Avenue is getting finished up. The supervisors had two utility permits to sign and voucher.

The auditor’s quarterly report was approved as well as the Veteran Affairs quarterly report.

Claims totaling $469,694.07 were approved.
