Tama mayor ‘pissed off’ about lack of progress on historic bridge
TAMA – During Monday night’s city council meeting, Tama Mayor Brian Hanus reported being “pissed off” at the lack of work done on the Lincoln Highway Bridge. After a meeting last week with engineers, DOT, and DNR, Hanus was angered by the lack of progress made so far with the project.
Hanus went on to “rattle some cages” that will hopefully get some movement going. Hanus wanted the public to know that he is sorry for the slow moving development, but they are still working on things.
Also, at Monday’s meeting, a few raises went out. Nick Peshel with the Waste Water Department recently passed his Grade 3 test, which is a high achievement. With it, the council decided to give Nick an eight dollar raise, from $25 to $33. Cody Nehring of the Water Department also recently passed one of his Grade 2 tests and was approved for a raise of a dollar.
The burn ban put on the city of Tama only a few weeks prior was lifted due to the several inches of rain the town received recently.
A shaft that needed repair for the Waste Water department is done but came in over budget. The Council approved paying for the repaired shaft in the amount of $1,800.
The Haunted Hayrack Ride for Halloween was reported to be all prepared.
Flex Fitness was approved for a downtown loan and grant.
EMS reported doing 20 transports after signing with a new hospital last month and earning about $12,500. They’ve already done around 11 transports this month, and are about four calls away from having the most calls Tama has ever had.
The nuisance department is working with interim City Attorney Mike Marquess on an abatement.
