Celebrate 57 years of Oktoberfest in the Amana Colonies

AMANA, Iowa – Join us September 30th – October 2nd for Iowa’s Oldest Oktoberfest as we celebrate 57 years of food, fun, and polka. So dust off your Dirndls, break out the Lederhosen and get ready for an experience like no other in the Amana Colonies.

Friday’s festivities kick off with the Official Oktoberfest Keg Tapping Ceremony. Starting at the Amana Heritage Museum at 11 am enjoy free admission, brats, beer, and their special exhibit on the history of Oktoberfest. Party with the one and only Burgermeister before parading to the Festhalle at 1:30m to tap the first keg of Oktoberfest and dance the night away to polka and folk music from the Amana Colonies Folksingers, DTKK, and more!

On Saturday, the fun continues at 10:00 a.m. with the Oktoberfest Parade through Amana. Music starts at 11 am in the Festhalle Barn with the Bavarian Musikmeisters and goes until Midnight, with country band Eli Alger and the Faster Horses closing the barn down. During the day you can test your skills and strength with traditional Oktoberfest games at the Market Barn; Eisenmann Competition, Log Sawing, Keg Toss, Naglehauen, and the Brat Eating Contest. Or head to the Compass Memorial Kinderplatz (Kids area) for family-friendly games, crafts, activities, and balloon art by Professor Von Air.

Sunday entertainment at the Festhalle is FREE and we’ll have even more great polka music, brats, and beer! Free parking is available by the Amana RV Park on Saturday and a free shuttle will bring you right to the Festival Grounds. As always, there will be tons of free entertainment throughout town all weekend long. Pick up a brochure to see all the fun and games going on in town.
